Research shows that physical activity can boost self-esteem, mood, sleep quality and energy, as well as reducing your risk of stress, depression, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Those benefits aren’t just about life outside work. Improved energy and sleep quality can have a real impact on they way you manage your workload too, increasing productivity and confidence. Running a business isn’t easy but looking after yourself both mentally and physically can help you to drive your business forward in a more positive and productive way. Here at Elephants Child we have a very energetic summer and noticed the benefits at work as well.
So if you are looking to de-stress, sleep better, and be more productive here’s some tips to get active:
Enter something – It could be anything from a Park Run to a marathon, a themed event such as a Wolf Run, Bubble Rush, or a charity event to raise money and give you extra motivation
Do it with someone else – your other half, colleagues, friends or kids. It is always easier with someone else to motivate you and make plans with.
Always eat breakfast – it’s a cliché but it is the most important meal of the day, not eating breakfast affects your productivity and efficiency whatever you are doing during the day.
Plan ahead – what are you going to eat, what healthy snacks could you carry around with you, book just three half hour slots for exercise in your week and you’ll notice the difference.
Setting yourself a physical activity target and achieving it is very motivating, it improves your mental strength, leading to better performance in all areas of your life and increased confidence. You don’t need to part of Team GB to get results, set yourself a challenge and go for it. You’ll feel the benefits at work and home.
