Project Description
We have worked with MSX, leaders in UK Bonded Warehouse Services and Distribution, since 2023, beginning with a Business Growth Plan, but have since provided ongoing Board Advisor support and consulted on their ESG journey.
Peter Blatch is Business Development Director at MSX, we asked him about working with elephants child:
What was the catalyst that made you realise that you might need external support in the form of a Business Growth Advisor?
We had been experiencing a few years of rapid growth and realised that our time was being monopolised by day-to-day issues, so felt we needed external support to drive forward other key aspects of a developing business, in the current market.
Why did elephants child feel the right fit for you?
We had previous experience of working with Martin Brown and had been in contact periodically, and felt elephants child’s style of working was comfortable for us. Very much a collaborative approach, seeking appropriate ways of working and ultimately the right solutions
Who was your Business Growth Advisor and what was it that made this relationship work?
After the initial contact, we were introduced to Nick Hunt who we have worked closely with over many months. Nick quickly got to grips with our requirements, as well as our personalities, and has a style of working that fits very well with Rob and I and has been a huge support in moving us forward in many areas.
How do you feel as a leader of the business now that you have gone through the process?
We are extremely comfortable with the developments we have made, and are confident that, with elephants child’s support we can create a stronger and more sustainable business.
Where do you see yourself going forwards following our work, both as a company and in your industry as a whole?
We would like to see ourselves as a clear leader within our field and have created a strong, financially stable company.
What has the ESG journey been like for your company during the past 12 months and how does sustainability feature within your future business strategy and day-to-day operational considerations as a result?
We have seen an ever-increasing requirement for ESG conformity within all new tenders/contract negotiations, especially with regards sustainability. To this end we see this as a key development area in the coming months, and it becoming a key element to securing longer term agreements moving forward. Surprisingly, through recent discussions, we would appear to be ahead of some of our competitors, but we understand that there is still a need for further development in this area, and a need to increase awareness and involvement across the business on a day-to-day basis. We believe establishing a stronger ESG platform will ultimately provide us with a competitive advantage and make us the go to partner in our channel.
Finally, if you could sum up your experience with Elephants Child in three words what would they be?
Professional, proactive, and supportive.
